This workshop is designed to help priests, deacons and all those in
pastoral ministry to understand the unique and complex needs of couples
experiencing infertility. It gives pastoral ministers a glimpse of what is
in the heart of these couples who desperately want children, their pain,
confusion and their desire to know and follow the truth. Begotten
Not Made addresses infertility from a holistic viewpoint. It
not only examines the moral issues surrounding the various Assisted
Fertility Techniques available today, but also the physical,
psychological, social and spiritual concerns couples unable to conceive
face.

These workshops provide a supplement to the normal training and
education that is received within the seminary. They are meant to provide
a practical application of the marital pedagogy to aid the priest in his
role as pastoral counselor to the family.

A priest must understand the vision of marriage and family
and then illuminate this vision for the couple in a practical way. It is
the couple’s responsibility to make this vision incarnate and it is the
priest’s responsibility to assist them.
